Well, the photo says it all..we’re ready to accept some money from you, and OK, it is more than £1.
At the recent membership meeting we agreed that in order to pay for some basics, such as insurance, we would ask people to pay for the first three months at a reduced rate of £30 + £5 key deposit. We’ll still be very much setting up the workshop, systems and processes but you would be have access to the space.
Other news:
- I have been showing electricians around the workshop, with a view to getting the electrics installed asap.
- I am also chasing down insurance quotes, in particular to cover heat and naked flames so that we are covered for our jewellery makers using the space.
- Green Elephant, who run Halton Mill, have just handed me a tenancy agreement for signing (gulp), so it is going to feel very real soon ;o)
- Joe is in the process for applying for a Lancaster University grant; we’re really hoping that it is successful since it would make life a whole lot easier.
- Finally, who is up for getting their hands dirty and sorting out benches/worktops and generally getting it up and ready for use? I suspect it is a good 1-2 days work involving lifting, carrying, measuring, sawing, drilling, etc…maybe sometime in the last 2 weeks of July?? Let me know if you are free and when would suit.
- Green Elephant are also running a Mill event on Sat 30th August which will have a “mend and reuse” theme. Sounds like a good opportunity for us to be present and do something. Any ideas?
Luke.
